So its July 4th and I decided to head to he harbor for a paddle this evening. I knew that the boat traffic would be a bit nuts and yes it was. Getting back in before it was dark was a smart move for sure and the ridiculousness that followed was well just plain ridiculous. What is your pre-paddle prep ritual?
So when do you begin thinking about your gear? Do you do this days before your next trip or at the time you make it to the put in? For me personally this process begin the day before a planned trip. So what am I reviewing? I check all of my rescue / safety gear. I check all my navigational gear and finally I check all my paddling gear. I have gotten in to the habit of doing it in this order every time. With this approach I am less likely to forget something critical. I am che
